JCJ Architecture’s long-standing relationship with the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians continued with the Phase 2 expansion of the Viejas Resort & Casino. The expansion included a new, 4 story hotel (South Tower) with 109 keys. The hotel rooms are above approximately 14,000 SF of meeting rooms and public gathering spaces on the first floor. The hotel includes 88 standard rooms, 16 enhanced rooms, 4 junior suites and a large entertainment suite on the 5th floor.

The project also included 13,200 SF of additional casino floor space as well as a 4,000 SF bar and lounge area, an extension of the casino connector which leads to the large meeting facilities. An 11,000 SF ballroom space and a extensive pre-function terrace is located on the 1st floor above the casino overlooking aspacious, open area designated for outdoor events such as concerts and large public gatherings.

The interior design is a reflection of the natural surroundings of the Tribal land in Alpine, presented in a contemporary and “edgy” way. The design features bold colors and patterns. The unique artwork is inspired by the natural environment. The elevator lobbies, for example, feature photographs of native flora and fauna, modernized by blowing up the scale and introducing bold purple, blue and pink colors.

The Hotel received the AAA Four Diamond Rating
