The Learning Corridor is a 16-acre intra-district magnet campus and core component of a neighborhood redevelopment program in the south end of Hartford. The 345,000 square foot PreK–12 campus opened its doors in September 2000 on a rehabilitated brownfield site and is now educating students from Hartford and 40 surrounding towns. This unique redevelopment concept was spearheaded by SINA (Southside Institution Neighborhood Alliance.)
The five constituent institutions of SINA - Trinity College, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Connecticut Public Television & Radio, Hartford Hospital, and The Institute of Living - worked cooperatively with the community to develop the project as a catalyst to uplift surrounding neighborhoods socially and economically.
The project includes a Montessori Magnet School, City of Hartford Middle School, Arts Science Magnet High School, Commons Building, Performance Theater and a parking garage. JCJ Architecture was responsible for overall management and delivery of the Learning Corridor in addition to design of the Middle School.
