JCJ was retained to master plan a technologically and environmentally advanced 150,000 square foot ‘learning village.’

The 3 schools (elementary, middle and high school) are arranged around a central courtyard that doubles as circulation and an active learning space. Students travel through courtyards to core facilities such as gymnasium, music and cafeteria. The buildings and gathering areas are designed to promote interaction amongst students and a strong attachment to the school campus. Gathering areas include a multi-functional courtyard, a softly sloped recessed amphitheater and classroom gardens. Interpretive and interactive walkways and paths are located throughout the campus.

The buildings are sited to optimize interior daylighting and minimize impacts on the natural resources. The Noli Indian School is planned to have many unique green, high performing features including a system to collect rainwater from roofs, a vegetated roof to control runoff and strategically placed shade trees to reduce the heat island effect. The combination of excellent day-lighting, high efficiency indirect fluorescent lighting, a well-designed building envelope and an innovative HVAC system will result in energy savings that exceed the current building codes.
