JCJ Architecture was commissioned to transform the existing Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino into a more sophisticated racing and gaming destination that would appeal to a broader regional market.

The property was re-invented and re-branded as ‘Mystique Casino’ incorporating a French theme in honor of one of the area’s first French Canadian settlers, Julien Dubuque. The project included a major overhaul of existing amenities and the introduction of several new spaces to meet the increasing demands of the market.

Existing amenities on the casino floor were reinvented as “Encore” (a performance area,) and “Rendez-Vouz” and “Moulin Rouge” (bar areas) to reflect the new French atmosphere.

JCJ designed “Champagne,” a new, fine dining steakhouse, where the elaborate ironwork, rustic interior finishes and wine display cabinets are reminiscent of a French chateaux. The renovation also introduced a new buffet, “Bon Appetit,” offering patrons a wide variety of food choices. To accommodate demand for additional entertainment space, JCJ added “Cabaret,” a flexible venue which can accommodate entertainment and banquet-related events.
