Over the course of a decade, JCJ provided comprehensive architectural and design services that transformed Foxwoods Resort Casino from a small enterprise to one of the largest and most successful gaming and entertainment attractions in the world. Thousands of machines and scores of table games are presented within a wide variety of separate casino experiences, connected by lively concourses lined with popular retail and food & beverage outlets. Night clubs, arcades, and live entertainment show rooms add to the energetic environment and the poker and racebook facilities have often been recognized as “the finest anywhere.” Multiple hotels provide a variety of accommodation options ranging from 420 square foot typical rooms to lavish 6,000 square foot suites. State-of-the-art convention and conference facilities are designed to serve a wide-range of functions and the 5,000 seat bingo hall, one of the largest in the world, easily converts to a venue for concerts, boxing or exhibit hall.
The speed at which Foxwoods was designed and constructed was almost unimaginable for its time. Executed as a “Flash-Track” project, casino and hotel (Phase IV) were designed and constructed in just 15 months without sacrificing collaboration with the Tribe during the design process. Throughout the design, JCJ worked with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe to develop appropriate tributes to their cultur, and to subtly infuse tribal iconography, colors and textures throughout the property.
