JCJ was retained to provide site selection, building assessment and full design services for Connecticut Public Broadcasting’s new 65,000 square foot corporate facility. The project called for adaptation of an existing six-story 1950s commercial office building into a highly specialized broadcast, studio and office facility. Working within tight budgetary constraints, aggressive scheduling and an inefficient existing building, JCJ was able to overcome the challenges by the exploration and implementation of creative solutions. A new curtain-wall updated the look of the building and provided long-term cost savings from energy efficient design. Interiors layouts were enlivened through the use of accent paint colors and periodic dropped-ceiling heights, providing a sense of openness and variety to the floor space. The facility includes state-of-the-art broadcast studios for radio and television.
