TESTING CONTENT CHANGE. JCJ Architecture was engaged to undertake the conversion of the former Dods Hall into a new strength and conditioning facility. The existing facility included basketball, lockers, racquetball courts and athletic offices and included a dilapidated swimming pool and an inadequate ventilation system.

Transformations of the interior environment and exterior campus presence were of equal importance. The new facility includes offices, an unenclosed changing area with lockers, strength and cardio fitness equipment and climbing wall set within an open and contemporary environment. Outside, the brick and precast exterior skin was removed and replaced with a glass curtainwall to maximize day-lighting. A sunscreen was added to control heat gain and the HVAC system was renovated to ensure appropriate circulation, ventilation and dehumidification. The building is set within the larger athletic complex and supports both university athletics and the general campus community.
